RE-THINK YOUR TUNA "SANDWICH"

Yay first food post on the blog! And it's a mighty delicious post indeed. 
Whenever you want a light, easy, and healthy snack or lunch, whip up this tuna lettuce wrap.

What's Inside
[Don't get hung up on exact measurements, I just toss whatever amount looks good & it's always delicious!]

1 can of tuna
Olive oil (or plain greek yogurt)
Apple chunks (in this case, a Honeycrisp)
Sliced red grapes
Provolone cheese, in chunks (I personally prefer sharp cheddar, but provolone is all I had on hand)
Diced white onion
Dill pickle, in chunks

Cracked pepper & herbs to taste

Wrap it up... 
In a romaine lettuce leaf!

One thing that has always turned me off to tuna sandwiches is they're typically made with mayonnaise. I hate mayonnaise; not only for its taste & consistency, but also because it's so bad for you! Firstly, it's exploding with calories. Then there's its saturated fat content, but if you switch to low-fat or fat-free you're just trading less fat for more sugar. And don't even get me started on all those nasty chemicals they add! 
But don't worry, I'm not gonna leave you high and dry! There are alternatives, and healthy ones at that! 
I used an extra light olive oil with a milder taste than most. Why is olive oil a much better choice than mayo? There are many health benefits that come with it! You can read about some of them here. Olive oil contains Mono-unsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), which translates to the good kind of fat your body needs. However, olive oil does typically pack a lot of calories, so use in moderation. 
Another alternative is greek yogurt, which is full of protein, healthy bacteria, and calcium. In all honesty it's probably even better than the olive oil, I just didn't have any on hand.

Eating healthy doesn't always have to cost you an arm and a leg! This dish is pretty inexpensive, and takes about 5 minutes to make. AND it's so so yummy-even the husband agrees!
